They can change the direction of a project at a moment’s notice and keep the momentum going.
They can assimilate new requirements from customers into existing features.
They can smooth out critical paths to QA and identify ways to speed up testing.
They make sure infrastructure is ready before it’s needed.
They don’t simply download new SDKs, they read up on them to understand their impact.
Buzzwords are used judiciously and not to play Bingo.
In short, they do the Delivery work that needs to get done to make the project a success with none of the baggage attached to it.
They are not the Project Manager, the Stakeholder, the Lead Developer, the QA Automation Engineer or the Product Manager.
They are more.
