The question is whether they want to.
Whether you want to learn something is completely up to you and is the difference between someone else learning something new and you.
People respect that you want to learn something new, that you are trying something new, that you are putting yourself out there to figure something out.
Whether you get there is immaterial, it’s that you want to learn and that you are trying.
