I recently tried out satellite internet.
Not perfect, but not bad.
Trees… leaves in particular… especially when drenched in rain, are a major barrier to communication.
What this translates into is an obstruction map that is 80% clear, which means on a good day, I have great internet for 48 minutes of each hour, the rest of the time, it depends, literally, on which way the leaves are blowing.
And they are not always blowing in the right direction.
Pre Mass Remote – 2020 – this imperfection in Internet access would be okay, there were many things I could do offline, get done offline but now, we have moved everything to requiring a connection that it’s near impossible for this to happen.
No, I won’t be cutting trees to get 100% internet, even when it rains, it drops. The goal is to be able to work anywhere and not always have to be connected.
