I’ve been spending a lot of time the last little while, learning perspective in drawing.

First off, it’s a crazy number of lines.  I mean, there are lines everywhere and you wonder how anything you create is going to turn out.

But then, once you’ve designed the grid, laid it out, put it together, and start adding your own components on top of it.

Then the value of all those little lines comes together and becomes something.

All that work to establish the layout, to understand what each position does – it’s truly amazing.

And then you’ve finished creating your drawing you look back at it and go – “Wow, this was way easier than when I was trying to freehand all of this.”

Many projects require a significant of groundwork and plumbing before you start to work on them – we don’t always want to do them until it’s too late – but it’s making them too late that kills us more.

Do the plumbing, build the perspective grid, do everything that can help you be better, and fight for it.

No one else will.
