When starting a new job you want to be able to ask the question “Where does this go?” and be able to get back a clear, clean, and descript answer.

You don’t want pontifications, talks about technology, or platform idioms that talk about where something goes but doesn’t go.

Taken in a different vein, imagine you are helping someone move into their brand new house and you’re standing in the front foyer holding a box.

The first question you will ask is “Where do you want this?”

They will think for a few seconds and then give you a room to put it in or “leave it there.”

It’s one or the other, then you’re onto the next task.

If answers about source control, deployments, file storage, pipelines, releases, etc, etc, are taking much longer to get to the point of where they need to go – there is a  problem – a big problem.

Where does this go questions should always be answered with “here or leave it there”.
