Ever looked at a project and thought – “This is a gut job”?

Take it right down to the bare bones, save nothing, and start all over again, from the foundation up?

It’s our first instinct when something is wrong – “Let me rebuild it the way I would do it.”

But what we often forget when it comes to the Gut Jobs;

  • The overages (because they will happen).
  • Living through it (because you will have to).
  • Getting to where you are now (because you do want to ship at some point).
  • The toll it will take (not only on you but everyone around you).

Gut jobs can be great in theory, but they aren’t like the HTGV Gut jobs where you can go from start to finish in under 1 hour – they are weeks and months of effort that you never see, and perhaps no one ever does.

Gut jobs are great in practice too and can yield strong results, just know, not everyone is going to care you gutted it and started over again, what they are going to care about is when will it be delivered and will it be better.
